|
South Shore Fine Arts Academy (SSFAA) is a new school serving students in grades pre-K - 2 in 2009-2010, and adding a grade each year up to 8th grade. Established through the Chicago Public Schools Renaissance 2010 Initiative and the Renaissance Schools Fund Performance Pipeline Program, SSFAA builds on South Loop School's proven model for improving student outcomes. Since 2002, the percentage of students who meet or exceed standards on the Illinois Standards Achievement Test at South Loop School has increased from 34% to over 89%! South Shore Fine Arts Academy builds on South Loop School's success by taking the key elements of its model to the South Shore Community including:
- ongoing adjustments to instruction in direct response to student data (Standards Based Change),
- high quality after school programming for students and their families that supports instruction,
- fine arts imbedded in a well integrated curriculum,
- and a commitment to parental involvement.
